His knowledge of fire dynamics, growth and effects, and behavior of materials and structures under fire, gives him the ability to do in‐depth investigation and analysis of fire accidents and provide credible hypothesis resulting in logical fire scene reconstruction. Such investigation is backed by calculations/data, and (if required) simulation/ modeling of incidents for supporting accident hypothesis. He has in the recent past provided services for investigation of fire incidents and providing clients with logical and useful insight into the incident cause and development, and relevant guidance related to the same.
With knowledge of fire science and fire protection, Abhay is able to go beyond codes and analyze problems/unusual situations related to life safety and fire protection, and offer viable solutions. In the past, he was called to study designs/situations which were not fully code-compliant, and on which he offered alternatives based on performance based engineering, which were acceptable to concerned approving authorities. He also has the ability to analyze and advise on fire protection related such as suitability and acceptability of fire fighting agents to specific fire hazards, assessment of Fire & Emergency Services capability for sites/hazards, etc.
